Sporty Boy Room One-Day Makeover

The goal of this project was to surprise one of my favorite first grade friends! He loves sports and needed an update to his room! This room was done in just over 5 hours and cost approximately $325!

Here is the mood board! You will see most of these items make it into the room!

Here is the before! The plan is to keep the bed but add some details to make this room fit his sporty personality!

I used a free construction calculator to design the board and batten. This took the math and guess work out of spacing the vertical boards. Go to inchcalculator.com to design your accent wall!

I used a spacer to install the vertical and horizontal boards based on the measurements in the picture above. The next step is tedious but VERY important. Wood fill the nail holes and spaces where wood meets wood. Then caulk where the wood meets the wall.

After! Look at what a difference the finished accent wall makes in this room! The paint is called Navy Slate by Sherwin Williams.

From start to finish, this project took just over 5 hours! He was so surprised when he came home from school!
